Trust Annual Reports  

Abhinaya Kalari (April 22-23, 2023)
A two-day program introducing children to performance arts, including Kathakali, drawing, and dance. 25 students participated in the program, benefiting from expert lectures and demonstrations.


Kathakali Performance: Prahlada Charitam (May 13, 2023)
A Kathakali performance held in Kokkal, Uduma Panchayath, Kasaragod, coordinated by Sri Bhaskaran Uduma, a member of the Trust. The performance was well-received by a large audience.


Natyamasikam – Nangyar Koothu (August 26, 2023)
In collaboration with Koodiyattam Kalakendram, the Trust hosted the first Nangyar Koothu performance at Mudiyakal School, Kasaragod. This performance was highly appreciated by local art lovers.


Samanwayam – Yakshagana, Kathakali, Bharatanatyam (September 2, 2023)
A combined performance of Kathakali and Yakshagana, held at Edaneer Mut, Kasaragod, as part of the Trust’s research program. The performance was attended by art enthusiasts from both Kerala and Karnataka.


Vivarthana Shilpashala (Translation Workshop) (September 19-21, 2023)
A collaborative workshop with Kannur University and the Linguistic Study Centre of Kannur University, held at the Chala Bed Centre in Kasaragod. The workshop received significant academic interest.


Natyamasikam – Koodiyattam Performance (October 29, 2023)
The Trust presented the second Natyamasikam program, which featured a Koodiyattam performance in collaboration with Koodiyattam Kalakendram, Thiruvananthapuram.


Natyamasikam – Mizhavu Thayambaka (December 27, 2023)
The third Natyamasikam program presented a Mizhavu Thayambaka performance, which was met with widespread appreciation.


Sarvajna Peedam Kathakali Performance (December 27, 2023 – Bekal Beach)
A Kathakali performance based on the Pottan Theyyam story was staged, which garnered considerable acclaim.


Sarvajna Peedam Kathakali Performance (January 17, 2024 – Neeleswaram Chathamath)
A special performance featuring Kalanilayam Vasudevan as Sivan and Kottakkal CM Unnikrishnan as Shankaracharya.


Samanwayam – Kathakali Workshop and Performance (January 13-14, 2024 – Mudiyakkal School)
The Trust organized a two-day Kathakali workshop, followed by a full-dress 

Trust Meetings
During the year, 5 meetings of the Trust were held to discuss and plan upcoming programs and initiatives. These meetings helped in charting the strategic direction and implementation of various Trust activities.


Land Sale and Construction of Headquarters
The Trust registered the sale of 10 cents of land for the construction of its headquarters. This was an important step in the development of the Trust’s own infrastructure, enabling a physical space for artistic and community activities.


Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony
The foundation stone laying ceremony for the headquarters building was conducted, and the construction began thereafter. This marked a significant milestone in the Trust’s progress.

The Trust’s Annual Festival was held on 25th January 2023. During this festival, the prestigious Natyacharya Award was presented to Padma Shri Mattannur Sankarankutty Ashan, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the Kathakali tradition.

7 formal meetings and 3 informal meetings were conducted to discuss and finalize the annual program of the Trust.


Online Webinars During the COVID-19 Pandemic

During the COVID-19 lockdown, the Trust organized an inspiring series of 40 online webinars. These webinars allowed artists and scholars to share their expertise and kept the artistic community engaged. The Chief Patron of the Trust, Sadanam Balakrishnan Ashan, formally inaugurated the series on 9th August 2020. Several eminent personalities, such as Dr. R. V. M. Divakaran, Padma Shri Mattannur Sankarankutty Ashan, and others, participated in the webinars.


Ashan Commemoration and Natyacharya Award Announcement

On 10th December 2020, the Trust commemorated Ashan’s legacy and announced the Natyacharya Award. Padma Shri Mattannur Sankarankutty Ashan was the chief guest for the event.


Natyacharya Award Presentation

The Natyacharya Award was conferred upon Kalamandalam Gopi Ashan on 27th February 2021 at the Thrissur Sahitya Akademi, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Kathakali.
